The Cleveland Browns stay put in the 2020 NFL Draft and select Alabama offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. with the 10th overall selection.

Under a new regime, the Cleveland Browns have already had a busy offseason. Adding many quality players through free agency, the team enters the 2020 NFL Draft with one glaring hole on their roster: left tackle.

For most of the pre-draft process, the question was simply, which offensive tackle will the Cleveland Browns take with the 10th pick of the 2020 NFL Draft? But as we got closer to draft day, other possibilities came to the forefront.

Will Isaiah Simmons be available? If all the tackles are gone, would they take a top wide receiver? And most of all, will the new analytical front office opt to trade down from pick 10 to acquire picks?

Ultimately, as things played out, the Cleveland Browns and general manager Andrew Berry had three of the four consensus top tackles available to them, as the New York Giants took Andrew Thomas from Georgia fourth overall.

With the tenth pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns make the pick and decided to select Jedrick Wills Jr., offensive tackle, Alabama.

Wills was regarded at the most well-rounded tackle prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft. He played right tackle for the Crimson Tide, protecting the blind side of left-handed quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, so he will likely jump over to the left side.

Wills thrives as a pass protector, with great footwork, awareness and powerful hands with a strong core to keep rushers at bay. In the run game, Wills has shown that he can be a real people mover, using his powerful core and lower body to drive defenders out of the play.

In new head coach Kevin Stefanski’s zone run offense, Wills will likely be asked to move quite often as a blocker. He showed that ability on tape and backed it up with a respectable 5.05 40-yard dash time at the 2020 NFL Draft Scouting Combine.

Jedrick Wills Jr. as a smart and solid player was a smart and solid pick for the Cleveland Browns with the 10th pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. He should be able to make the switch to the left side with ease and will protect Baker Mayfield better than probably any other tackle prospect in this draft.
