Minnesota Vikings: First-round 2020 NFL Draft targets

Trevon Diggs CB
Projected Starters: Mike Hughes, Kris Boyd
Brother of former Minnesota wide receiver Stefon Diggs, Trevon Diggs possesses some of the same ball skills and mismatch athleticism as his older brother. Between his 6-foot 1 frame and explosive athleticism all combined with receiver-like hands, Diggs is a through-and-through playmaker in man coverage.
Diggs can keep up with any man in one-on-one battles down the field and has the physicality to compete at the point-of-catch as well as the athleticism to go vertical before that point and cut off any chance of a completion.
Concerns have surrounded Diggs though with both his discipline and technical proficiency. Between miss-played balls and lengthy strides hindering his agility, Diggs is not ready to go against the technically polished route runners of the NFL such as Julian Edelman, Davante Adams, and many others. He has all of the physical tools to compete, he just needs to learn to play smart, not just for the turnover.
Lots of off-man coverage, shown troubles with discipline, but the exact skill set and physical characteristics to become a premier number one corner, it is clear why Diggs falls down to the late first round. Diggs will need to take his time in acclimating and learning at the NFL level to compete in full-speed games. With Adam Thielen on the roster, the athletically capable and technical veteran will pose a perfect test in practice to speed up Diggs’ acclimation to the NFL.
