Atlanta Falcons. Logan Stenberg. 4. player. 44. . IOL

The first three rounds saw the Atlanta Falcons stay towards the defensive side of the ball. Now they turn their attention to the offense. The Falcons still need to add depth to their offensive line, even after spending two first-round picks a year ago at the position.

The Falcons decided to beef up the interior of the offensive line with guard Logan Stenberg here at No. 119 overall. He is a physical and nasty mauler who works hard to finish every block and has great size. He is 6-foot-6, 317 pounds and has started every game for Kentucky at left guard over the last three seasons.

On the current roster, the Atlanta Falcons have five guards, Lindstrom is the starting right guard and veteran Jamon Brown is his backup. James Carpenter and John Wetzel are listed as left guards on the Falcons roster. Carpenter lost the starting job last year to Wes Schweitzer and Wetzel only started 24 games over five seasons. Now Schweitzer left in free agency and the need for guard is obvious

Neither Carpenter or Wetzel will be a long-term answer so the Falcons would hope that Stenberg could come in and take the spot in this scenario.

44. . RB. Atlanta Falcons. A.J. Dillon . 4. player

Devonta Freeman has been injury-prone over the past couple of seasons and that resulted in the Falcons cutting ties with the running back who put up back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2015 and 2016.

Since then, injuries derailed his performance and his stats diminished. He still remains a free agent. So with their second of two fourth-round picks, the Falcons select running back A.J. Dillion from Boston College with the134th pick overall.

Matt Ryan happens to be an alumni of Boston College as well and has brought good things to the Falcons organization so let’s hope Dillion can do the same. In three seasons, Dillion has rushed for over 1,100 yards each year and totaled 1,685 yards in 2019.

The Falcons brought in Todd Gurley who has been a Pro Bowl running back but has had knee injuries the past couple of seasons. Even if Gurley can bounce back, he was only signed to a one-year deal, and with Atlanta’s cap situation, he is unlikely to be extended.

Dillion would have a lot of competition on a roster that includes three younger backs but I believe he can be a future starter for the Falcons. They like to have a multi tandem running back approach like when they had Freeman and Tevin Coleman two years ago. Then Freeman and Ito Smith last season until both were hurt and in came Brian Hill and Qadree Ollison.

Smith was a fourth-round pick in 2018 who is a similar style running back to Freeman and is also a lot cheaper. Hill and Ollison were both fifth-round picks, Hill in 2017 and Ollison in 2019. Hill filled in well last season but is not an every-down back like Dillion can be. Ollison who was a rookie last year should get a bigger role in 2020 for the Falcons.

You can never have too many running backs and Dillion has the potential to make some noise in the Atlanta backfield.

OG/C. Atlanta Falcons. Sean Pollard. 7. player. 44.

The Falcons do not have a fifth or sixth-round pick in this year’s draft unless they trade down one of their fourth-round picks. They will have to wait almost one hundred picks from their last selection to pick at 228th overall.

The Falcons select center Sean Pollard from Clemson who has played 55 games and started 38 of them. He has not only played center, but has played at tackle and guard during his four-year college career.

The only center currently on the Falcons roster is 34-year-old Alex Mack who was been one of the few bright spots on Atlanta’s offensive line the past couple of seasons. Though the need for a center who can sit behind Mack this season and be a possible replacement is something for the Atlanta Falcons to start thinking about.
