Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Andrew Thomas. player. 59. Offensive Tackle. Georgia. 8

While everyone has been assuming that at least the Miami Dolphins and likely both Miami and the Los Angeles Chargers will be taking a quarterback with their top selection, each team’s need at offensive tackle has been overlooked a bit.

Many project the teams to select a tackle with their very next picks, but NFL.com’s Mike Garafolo has a feeling that tackle might actually be the number one priority for the Miami Dolphins:

Could the Dolphins shock the world and go tackle at five on draft day? Garafolo certainly would know better than me, but I can’t see that happening. Rather, I think a scenario similar to this one in the 2020 NFL Mock Draft could happen.

The Arizona Cardinals likely wanted Derrick Brown or Isaiah Simmons here, so with both off the board, it doesn’t take a whole lot of convincing to get them to move down, especially with as much draft capital as the Miami Dolphins have.

Here, the Dolphins are able to get their top choice at both quarterback and offensive tackle in the 2020 NFL Mock Draft. Maybe a bit of a surprise to some, Andrew Thomas has a very good chance of being that guy:

Now with a brand new quarterback and a dominant left tackle to protect his blindside, Miami still has another first-round pick, as well as many other selections in the 2020 NFL Mock Draft that can yield impactful players on both sides of the ball.
