2020 NFL Mock Draft: Three rounds with latest rumors and predictions
One of the biggest surprises of the offseason, to me, was the sudden retirement of Carolina Panthers great, Luke Kuechly. As one of the best middle linebackers in the game, Kuechy flew all over the field, making plays snap after snap.
Although he is a much different player, Isaiah Simmons will do the same thing. Simmons doesn’t have a position. He just steps out onto the football field and makes plays. Simmons’ 2019 stat sheet was incredible, showing just how versatile of a player he really is.
Simmons will not only help fill the void left by Kuechly, but his ability to play all over the field will allow him to help the Panthers cover up some of the other many weaknesses across their defense. Carolina will surely address some of these holes throughout the remainder of the 2020 NFL Mock Draft, but having one guy that can fill them all is such a great luxury.
Derrick Brown could be the pick here if available, especially if Simmons is not, as the Panthers let nearly their entire defensive line go this offseason. Matt Rhule and his front office have a lot of work to do if he wants to live up to his “rebuilding master” reputation at the NFL level, but drafted Isaiah Simmons is a great place to start.
