Ohio State. Jeff Okudah. 4. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 52. Cornerback

Jeff Okudah didn’t have to wait too much longer than expected to see his name come off the board in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft. With a clear need at corner and often being linked to Florida’s C.J. Henderson throughout the draft process, the Jacksonville Jaguars were jumping for joy when they saw Okudah got past Detroit.

Giants general manager Dave Gettleman has made it pretty clear that he is open to, and would like to, trade out of this fourth overall spot. I’m assuming New York has their eye on a guy that they feel they can get a little farther down the board and will take what they can get to move down.

The Jags are able to keep their 20th overall pick, jumping up from pick nine to grab Okudah. Okudah is nearly the perfect prospect for them to replace Jalen Ramsey. With long arms, good size, solid athleticism and a physical but calculated style of play, Okudah is worthy of this top-five selection in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft.

Seeing Ramsey and A.J. Bouye walk out the door could not have been fun for the rest of the Jaguars secondary. A lot of weight was due to fall on their shoulders but now can transfer mostly over to their new shutdown corner. Adding Okudah is just the start of reshaping the Jaguars’ defense, but will help the likes of Justin Herndon, Rashan Melvin and D.J. Hayden take on lesser roles that they can more appropriately fill.

The Jags may have been able to take Henderson if they stayed at nine, but you can never take anything for granted in the NFL draft. When Okudah fell slightly farther than he was projected to in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft, it was a no-brainer for Jacksonville to use their plethora of 2020 picks to go up and make a move, and they may not be done on the phone lines.
