Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 17. player. EDGE. LSU. K'Lavon Chaisson. 123

It has been rumored that if K’Lavon Chaisson is on the board when the Dallas Cowboys pick at 17, he will be their selection.

There is some doubt about that availability, but in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft, Chaisson made his way down to Dallas.

The Cowboys currently have a couple of question marks across the way from Demarcus Lawrence at defensive end. Aldon Smith and Randy Gregory are both expected to be reinstated from suspension and return to play for Dallas this season.

But it has been a while since either of those guys have played competitive football, so bringing in another option would be wise. In this case, it is raw but promising edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson.

Chaisson showed incredibly flashes of potential at LSU. He can really get after the quarterback with his speed and athleticism off the edge, but he is also a very versatile player who can drop back in coverage.

I thought Chaisson would be best fit as a 3-4 outside linebacker at the next level, allowing him to use that versatility while developing as a rusher. But Mike McCarthy has said that the Cowboys are a 4-3 team, so Chaisson would put his hand in the dirt as a defensive end.

South Carolina. 18. player. Scouting Report. Defensive Lineman. Javon Kinlaw. 32. Pick Analysis

After trading down from eight to 18, the Arizona Cardinals still get a player that they would have considered without a move down.

Javon Kinlaw is certainly one of the most talented players in this draft. He is a great penetrator who can line up pretty much anywhere across the defensive line. He is effective as a rusher and as a run stopper and produced against high level SEC competition.

The only thing causing Kinlaw to slide this far is his medical. Kinlaw has been through his fair share of injuries and surgeries, leading to reports that team doctors suspect possible arthritis in both of his knees.

Lower body injuries are always worrisome for bigger guys, and this possible diagnosis may really affect his stock in the 2020 NFL Mock Draft. Even if he comes out and looks healthy, teams will wonder what’s going on inside his body and just how long he’ll last.

Nonetheless, Kinlaw is an outstanding prospect that many NFL talent evaluators love. If it were for the medical concerns, Kinlaw could be the top defensive tackle taken in the 2020 NFL Mock Draft, and if he plays a long and healthy career will be a steal at this point in the draft.
