Louisville. 48. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. Offensive Tackle. Mekhi Becton. 14

In case you haven’t heard, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed some guy named Tom Brady. Now it is being reported that Rob Gronkowski will be coming out of retirement to play with Tom and the Bucs this year.

Given the tight window for winning that comes along with signing a 42 year-old quarterback, Tampa must do everything they can to surround Brady with the pieces he needs to be successful right away.

A priority, especially in Bruce Arians’ vertical offense, keep Tom Brady upright, healthy and giving him time to throw the ball down the field. Bringing in one of the top four offensive tackles seems like a great way to try to do that.

Mekhi Becton could be the eighth wonder of the world. With his blend of size, athleticism and nastiness, it will be hard for him not to be successful to some degree on the football field. Becton has the potential to become one of the absolute best football players in the league, but he will need some time to develop.

Unfortunately for the Buccaneers and Tom Brady, time is a luxury they do not have much of left. Brady’s clock is ticking and the team must be in a clear win-now mode. Becton may not seem like a great fit, then, as such a raw prospect, but he brings enough to the table right away to warrant this selection in the 2020 NFL Mock Draft.

He will have to be a quick learner and put whatever failed drug test controversy he has had behind him. It will take a large amount of time for Mekhi Becton to reach his full potential, but he could quickly become a very effective starting lineman as a rookie
