There are many talented safeties in the 2020 NFL Draft, headlined by Alabama’s Xavier McKinney. Here, we rank and analyze the top 20 safeties in the class.

Safeties aren’t often highly desired as first-round picks in the NFL Draft. They often fall a little farther than they probably should, just because teams don’t feel they need to draft one that early. The 2020 NFL Draft has at least one guy, Xavier McKinney from Alabama, who is a sure-fire first-round pick, and multiple other players who will make a big impact for their NFL teams.

Safeties might be my favorite players in football. They are given the freedom to roam the field, read and react and can be the biggest playmakers on the field. They can be so fun to watch and be much more impactful than most people give them credit for.

In the 2020 NFL Draft, there are a number of players that can be that impactful playmaker at the next level. It isn’t an incredibly deep class, but there will certainly be some value out there to take advantage of.

When it comes down to it, scheme fit and proper usage may be the biggest factor in the level of success that these safety prospects have in the NFL. Some should be able to make an impact no matter where they are on the field, but others will have to be put in the right situation to succeed.

There are some sleepers in this positional class, like every other, that I value more than some others. That is the beauty of the NFL Draft. Everyone has their own opinion, and I am very confident in my evaluations.

Let’s get things started with the prospects who I feel have first-round potential and can be game-changing playmakers right away for their teams coming out of the 2020 NFL Draft.
