Who else could the Dolphins target with a trade up? Let’s look at a few here on day two of the 2020 NFL Draft. If they still have selections here, they will have players in mind to jump up for.

Running Back

Trotting out a top running back to help out your offensive line and quarterback should be a priority for the Miami Dolphins. They don’t need to do that in round one, but it should happen on day two. The class has a good amount of talent at the top where reaching isn’t necessary.

If the Dolphins have to move a few spots to get their guy in the second round, by all means, make it happen. For some reason, it just feels like Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins is their guy. Dobbins brings good vision to the table and has three-down ability to be effective in the passing game. The fit just makes so much sense.

Safety

The defense in Miami got a major overhaul in free agency, securing Byron Jones, Kyle Van Noy, and Shaq Lawson. Now, they need a true back end safety to bring everything together. Two names to watch in a trade-up are Cal’s Ashtyn Davis and Southern Illinois’ Jeremy Chinn. Both bring great range to the table on the back end and aren’t afraid to come up and lay the wood. The safety class is very good, but they might need to get in front of a couple of teams to get who they want.

Edge Defender

It may not seem like EDGE is a need, with Lawson and Emmanuel Ogbah in town now. However, Brian Flores will want a young guy to bring is as well. Coming from the Patriots tree, finding an edge setter with good length will be important to him.

If A.J. Epenesa drops out of round one (and if the Dolphins don’t select him with one of their picks) he will be a trade-up target. The other to watch is Penn State’s Yetur Gross-Matos. He has the upside but needs some time to refine his game.
