Pick Analysis. Punter. 50. Braden Mann. 182. player. Scouting Report. Texas A&M

The Detroit Lions let punter Sam Martin walk away in free agency this offseason, opening a hole up on their special teams unit that needs to be filled. The pickings are scarce when it comes to available punters on the free-agent market so don’t be surprised to see them draft one in this year’s 2020 NFL Draft.

Widely seen as the best punter in the draft, Texas A&M’s Braden Mann could very well be the target in this year’s draft. He won three awards after an outstanding 2018 season, taking home the Ray Guy Award, SEC’s Special Teams Player of the Year, and was a unanimous All-American.

Over his two starting seasons in college, Mann punted the ball a total of 107 times for a total of 5,234 yards. He averaged just under 49 yards per punt and had a long punt of 82 yards. He had 56 punts travel over 50 yards in the air and 45 of his punts fell inside the 20-yard line, while only 13 went for touchbacks.

The Lions need a punter and taking a guy who averages almost 50 yards per punt and regularly pins it inside the 20-yard line sounds like a good call. The only question really, if how far will Mann make it in the draft?
