The 2020 NFL Draft is just days away and the Detroit Lions will soon be adding to the ranks. Here’s a final seven-round mock draft for the boys in Honolulu Blue.

In just one day, the 2020 NFL Draft will be kicking off and the excitement will begin. Even with all the picks and announcements being made virtually thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is sure to be a fun and exciting experience. It is made even more enjoyable for Detroit Lions fans by the fact that their team owns the third overall pick in the draft this year.

The Lions have an array of needs to fill in this year’s draft and should be trying their best to find an agreeable trade back from the third overall pick that nets them at least one extra top-100 pick if not two. Adding two more such picks would allow them to add six potentially impactful rookies in the draft.

Needs they will need to try their best to attend to in the first three rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft include defensive end, cornerback, interior defensive and offensive lineman, and wide receiver. Other needs that will need to be addressed at some point in the draft include linebacker, tight end, and punter positions. A developmental back-up quarterback and a running back to add to their current committee should not be ruled out either.

The Lions currently have nine picks in the draft. They have one in each of the seven rounds plus one additional third-round pick and one additional fifth-round pick. If they can trade down and acquire an extra pick or two in the first three rounds they will be well on their way to successfully addressing many of their top tier and tier two level needs.

In this mock draft, The Draft Network’s Mock Draft Machine was used to make picks. Picks were made through a combination of best player available and team needs. In this particular simulation, Detroit Lions fans get a pleasant surprise in the first round.
