Buffalo Bills: Possible trade-up targets in the 2020 NFL Draft
After trading away their first-round pick for Stefon Diggs, the Buffalo Bills still have seven picks in the 2020 NFL Draft they could use to trade back up.
The Buffalo Bills made one of the biggest moves of the offseason, trading their first-round pick, and then some, to acquire star receiver, Stefon Diggs.
This tweet from NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero and NFL’s Next Gen Stats Twitter page explains the details of the trade and also provides some data about Diggs’ impact down the field in the NFL:
Even after the trade for Diggs, the Buffalo Bills are still armed with seven picks in the 2020 NFL Draft. They are as followed:
- Round 2, Pick 54
- Round 3, Pick 86
- Round 4, Pick 128
- Round 5, Pick 156
- Round 6, Pick 189
- Round 6, Pick 202
- Round 7, Pick 240
This gives general manager Brandon Beane and the Bills’ front office plenty of ammunition to move up at any point in the 2020 NFL Draft. Whether it is back into the first round, up towards the top of the second, or any other spot in between where they think a guy that they really like might not make it to their next pick, they can make it happen.
With a very well-rounded roster heading into the 2020 NFL Draft, the Bills can afford to drop a couple more picks and come away with fewer players, but more highly-rated prospects from this class. Adding even just a few very good and well-positioned players may be enough to push this Buffalo roster over the edge and make them legitimate contenders in the AFC.
With Tom Brady no longer a member of the New England Patriots, it seems as though the AFC East may be the Bills’ to lose. With the window closing on Josh Allen’s rookie contract, the Bills are in clear “win-now mode”.
They made multiple solid additions in free agency, and if they are able to land a few very talented and impactful rookies out of the 2020 NFL Draft, they should be in a great position this season.
