2020 NFL Draft: New York Giants late-round sleeper targets
By Andrew Kim
Here are ten late-round prospects who the New York Giants should target late in the 2020 NFL Draft.
After winning four games in 2019, it’s obvious that the New York Giants need to upgrade on many positions on their roster. The majority of their picks this year are on Day 3, with seven picks from the fourth to the seventh rounds of the draft.
Whether they trade those picks or not, the Giants have to maximize the value of those picks by moving up or by taking a potential impact player at a position of need. Dave Gettleman has always stuck by his philosophies in the draft but that could change this year with the bevy of picks they have late in the draft.
With a new head coach in Joe Judge, almost every player should make their case to what their value is to the Giants. The Pat Shurmur regime nailed on a few late-round impact players that showed some flashes on the field in 2019. Some of those players that were picked on day three last year include Julian Love, Ryan Connelly and Darius Slayton.
They will look to replicate their success on finding hidden gems this year, as this will be the first year that Judge will look for his type of players to fill out the roster.
The Giants signed Colt McCoy, Dion Lewis, Cameron Fleming, Levine Toilolo, Blake Martinez and James Bradberry in free agency. All of these signings were at big positions of need but most of these players are veteran backups rather than week one starters.
They still have to address wide receiver, offensive tackle, center, linebacker, edge rusher and safety at the very least. Getting a quarterback, running back, tight end and cornerback is also in play late in the draft as well. Even if they addressed a position in free agency, drafting the same position gives them insurance in case the veteran does not pan out.
Here are some late-round prospects I would be looking out for at ten different positions in the 2020 NFL Draft.
