2020 NFL Draft: Final mock draft with shocking picks and big trades
The Arizona Cardinals move down yet again, accumulating another nice day two selection, and the New England Patriots come up for a quarterback prospect who could be the heir apparent to Tom Brady.
This would be pretty unprecedented pressure for the Pats to put on a kid though, which leads me to believe they might not pull the trigger. The Patriots apparently love Herbert, so the hype surrounding this kind of move for them would be put on the back-burner.
Herbert was slated to be the top QB selected in the 2019 NFL Draft before deciding to return to school. Ultimately, if he’s the heir to Tom Brady in New England? That’s a huge win for him.
The Patriots get great value here obviously and bring in a smart, experienced, four-year starter for the Oregon program who showed off his elite talent.
He might have a lower ceiling than some of the other guys in this draft, but Herbert is a smart player with a high floor who should be a longtime starter, especially in a culture like New England’s.
