Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LSU. Justin Jefferson. 21. player. 54. Wide Receiver

The 2020 NFL Draft is littered with wide receivers which is why the Eagles are able to land a talent like Justin Jefferson this far down in the first round. Philadelphia is in desperate need of receivers after fielding an unnoticeable group last season. Carson Wentz was throwing to guys I’ve never even heard of. Justin Jefferson would provide Wentz the weapon he needs to succeed. He may not be the fastest receiver, but he is very capable of creating separation with his route running.

Jefferson is a tough competitor and will fight for position on 50-50 balls. He does a good job tracking and high pointing the football leaping over the defender to secure the catch. Jefferson would walk in on day one and be the best receiver on the roster especially if Alshon Jeffery isn’t healthy to start the season.

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 22. Cornerback. LSU. Kristian Fulton. player. 60

The Minnesota Vikings acquired the 22nd pick after they sent Stefon Diggs to Buffalo. They also created a hole at receiver, but first, they have to address their secondary. Minnesota lost cornerbacks Mackensie Alexander and Trae Waynes to Cincinnati plus they waived Xavier Rhodes, so they need to find a starting-caliber cornerback in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Kristian Fulton has the potential to start from day one with his press-man ability, He has nice size at 6-feet and 197 pounds that allow him to play physical and not get pushed around by bigger receivers. He likes to play the ball rather than his man which could get him into trouble at times. In 2019 he recorded one interception and 14 passes defended.

Scouting Report. Jordan Love. 23. 47. Pick Analysis. Quarterback. Utah State. player

The New England Patriots are in need of a starting quarterback for the first time in 20 years as Tom Brady left for Tampa Bay. If you believe that Jarrett Stidham is the guy then I don’t know what to tell you.

Jordan Love has the physical tools that teams look for in a quarterback. He’s a big pocket passer, with nice awareness and a strong arm. The challenges come into play when you see his accuracy regress from 2018 to 2019. You can put some blame on the talent around him as well as the coaching staff, but there is real concerns over his accuracy issues.

Bill Belichick may not select a quarterback here, but if Love doesn’t go here then when? The Patriots need a starting quarterback and he’s the best one available. We’ll find out the answer on Thursday, but until then this is the pick I’m going with.

52. Pick Analysis. Cornerback. Alabama. Trevon Diggs. 24. Scouting Report. player

The Jacksonville Jaguars traded down with the Saints and pick up a cornerback that could fill in right away for them. Trevon Diggs has very good size at 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds. He has solid strength to go along with excellent ball skills.

Diggs will get into trouble with fast receivers as he lacks the speed to stick with them. He did have three interceptions to go along with eight passes defended in his last season at Alabama. He has the potential to develop into a solid press-man cover corner that can create turnovers.

Baylor. Denzel Mims. Pick Analysis. Wide Receiver. 25. player. 60. Scouting Report

The Vikings created a hole at receiver when they traded Stefon Diggs to Buffalo and now they are able to add a big physical wide receiver in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Minnesota gets a big-time target taking Baylor wide receiver Denzel Mims at 25 overall.

Mims has the size at 6-foot-3 and 207 pounds as well as the speed (4.38 40-yard dash) to be a dynamic playmaker for Kirk Cousins. He is also a threat to score a touchdown whenever they’re in the red zone. Minnesota’s offense could be able to take off after getting a guy with Mims’ capabilities.
