Andrew Thomas. 6. player. 13. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Georgia. Left Tackle

The Los Angeles Chargers need a new quarterback after they parted ways with Philip Rivers, but they also have a major need at offensive tackle. Andrew Thomas has been dropping on some mock drafts, but he’s recently had his name pop up as a top 10 selection. This makes all the sense in the world as he’s done nothing to make his stock drop.

Thomas is the best pure left tackle in the 2020 NFL Draft and was considered to be a top-five pick before the 2019 season. However, three other tackles caught the attention of the media early in the draft process. Tristan Wirfs. Jedrick Wills Jr. and Mekhi Becton gained mainstream attention with their size and athletic ability and that only increased after the scouting combine.

The fact is that Thomas was a three-year starter for the Georgia Bulldogs. He started 15 games at right tackle before moving to left tackle his sophomore year where he stayed until his final game in 2019. The Chargers should worry about building their line up before selecting their future quarterback, besides Tyrod Taylor could hold down the fort until the time comes.

Cornerback. C.J. Henderson. 7. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Florida. 87

This may be the most surprising selection in this mock draft. The Carolina Panthers have been linked to Auburn defensive lineman Derrick Brown for months, but I just believe cornerback is a much more dire position of need. They lost James Bradberry to New York and don’t have much that would scare the opposition. Taking C.J Henderson makes a ton more sense to me and he’s been rumored to be a top ten pick for the last week.

Pick Analysis. Derrick Brown. 8. player. Scouting Report. Defensive Lineman. Auburn. 32

Conventional wisdom may say the Arizona Cardinals will take one of the offensive tackles, but the way the board fell they can take the best player available all while filling a need. Derrick Brown is a ferocious defensive lineman and could completely transform Arizona’s defensive line. He has lateral quickness and explosive strength to win one on one matchups. The Cardinals could address their offensive line later in the draft.

Pick Analysis. Defensive Line. 9. 52. Scouting Report. South Carolina. Javon Kinlaw. player

This was a tough decision for a couple of reasons. The best player available and one of the most intriguing players in the 2020 NFL Draft is available in Isaiah Simmons, but there are more pressing needs for Jacksonville. I also thought about moving down since C.J. Henderson is off the board and there’s no other cornerback worth taking this high, but there wasn’t any deal that made sense.

So I went with a player that I’m very high on that also fills a need for the Jaguars and that’s Javon Kinlaw. He has a higher ceiling than Derrick Brown and could line up anywhere on the defensive line. His combination of athleticism and strength makes him a lethal ball stopper and potential pass rusher. Jacksonville traded away Calais Campbell and is in need of defensive lineman. Javon Kinlaw could be a great starting piece for building their defense back up.

Scouting Report. 10. 53. Pick Analysis. LB/DB. Clemson. Isaiah Simmons. player

The Cleveland Browns could very well move out of this pick, but with Isaiah Simmons available, I couldn’t let him drop any further. He’s the most interesting and dominant player in the 2020 NFL Draft class and Cleveland could use his dynamic playmaking ability on their defense. He can play weakside or nickel for them or practically anywhere they need him.

Simmons had seven sacks last season with 104 tackles and three interceptions. Any player who can play multiple positions and create turnovers is worthy of a high draft pick. The Cleveland Browns get the steal of the draft at ten overall taking Isaiah Simmons to play anywhere and everywhere for their defense.
