With Melvin Gordon moving on, Austin Ekeler is expected to take on a larger role in the Chargers offense. Ekeler is an extremely talented running back who should be able to handle a featured role, but the Chargers could certainly use some depth at the position.

Having Ekeler and Justin Jackson on the roster allows to Los Angeles Chargers to pass on the running back position early, but they are going to want to find some depth eventually. If AJ Dillon out of Boston College slips to Day 3, the Chargers should be all over him.

Dillon is one of the most interesting running back prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft class. He is a 6-foot, 247-pound man who absorbs contact well and is incredibly difficult to take down at all times. Dillon has obvious power with the ball in his hands, but do not sleep on his ability to move.

He does not have elite speed and quickness, but Dillon is undoubtedly extremely fast for a man of his size. Any 247-pound player who runs a 4.53 40 at the combine has my attention. Dillon’s combination of power and speed is rare and it could make him an impact player at the next level. The Chargers need to add some impact depth to the running back position and Dillon is the most intriguing potential Day 3 running back. He is an obvious target for this team.
