Buffalo Bills: Late-Round sleeper targets in the 2020 NFL Draft
By Tyler Kirk
Lamar Jackson, CB, Nebraska
Lamar Jackson has all the physical tools to match up against NFL wideouts. Jackson is 6-foot-2 and has a 77-7/8 inch wingspan. This height and length make him a perfect corner for today’s game. Lamar Jackson closed a lot of passing windows for opposing quarterbacks throughout his collegiate career with his ability to shorten the throwing window in zone coverages.
I think this is a good fit for the Buffalo Bills secondary. As I mentioned earlier they added a few cornerbacks in free agency but those moves don’t hinder them from taking a talented cornerback in the later rounds.
Jackson does a great job with his recovery time as he pursues receivers. He lacks the ability to jam strong at the line of scrimmage and gets beat often at the line, often allowing quick receivers to get past him. But where Jackson is not as strong in press, his reaction and recovery have led to multiple interceptions in his career.
Jackson is a very smart football player. He reads and reacts to multiple different receiver variations and does an excellent job keeping his eye on the quarterback in zone coverage. Also, Jackson does a great job against NFL competition. He played a great game against Ohio State in 2018 and even had an interception.
I think that Jackson would be a great fit for the Buffalo Bills with one of their late round selections. Jackson could give this team some much needed youth and will have time to develop under some great corners in Buffalo.
