Derrek Tuszka, EDGE, North Dakota State

This kid just screams Buffalo Bills to me. He embodies everything it means to be a Bill by the way he plays the game. Tuszka plays the game with so much effort and intensity it’s a blast to watch his tape.

When watching Tuszka, I see his first-step explosion off the ball and the athleticism to capture the edge against college tackles. He can rush off the edge on both sides of the football too. Tuszka does a great job of using his hands to set the edge. He uses his motor to make a lot of plays behind the line of scrimmage.

While Tuszka has a lot of great traits, he does have some weaknesses. The reason he isn’t getting recognition earlier in the draft is because he needs to develop a better set of pass rush moves. When watching the film he goes to the speed rush from edge almost every snap. He stays too wide and gets too far up the field. He also has a hard time disengaging the tackle once he is approached.

Tuszka would come to the Buffalo Bills with a coachable attitude and willingness to be great. I think that if the Buffalo Bills were to land Tuszka in the latter part of the draft he has a chance to flourish in this Bills 4-3 scheme. I like the ability he has to come in on pass-rushing situations and help put pressure on opposing quarterbacks. All of his traits make this a perfect sleeper pick for Buffalo Bills on Saturday.
