2020 NFL Draft: Late-Round sleeper targets for the Minnesota Vikings
By David Glancy
Wide Receivers
The Vikings will have to address the departure of Stefon Diggs through the draft after failing to do so in free agency. With what projects to be one of the deeper receiver classes, the Vikings will have options between their day three selections.
Diggs was once a five-star recruit who did not live up to expectations at Maryland and fell to the fifth round of the 2015 draft. While his college path was different, Donovan Peoples-Jones could be another talented, later-round option who did not meet expectations in college but could have a strong pro career.
Tyler Johnson is a prospect most Minnesota Vikings fans are familiar with after setting all-time receiving yards and touchdowns records at the University of Minnesota. Johnson is a large, physical target known for his ability to pull in contested passes and demonstrates great body control.
While he may not possess the speed of the top-tier receivers in this draft, he is a versatile receiver and can make an immediate impact. His route running and production in college cannot be questioned.
Isaiah Coulter is one of the more intriguing receivers in the draft class coming from FCS school, Rhode Island. Measuring at 6-foot-3 with 4.45 speed, Coulter has the physical tools to line up with the best receivers in the draft. Coulter was responsible for 72 receptions, eight touchdowns and over 1,000 yards receiving as a junior in 2019 and brought in nine receptions for 152 yards in Rhode Island’s loss to Virginia Tech.
