Trevis Gipson – EDGE – Tulsa

When discussing the pass rusher group in the 2020 NFL Draft, much of the conversation has been about guys like Chase Young, K’Lavon Chaisson, and A.J. Epenesa. These three, along with Zack Baun and Yetur Gross-Matos headline the group, however, there are some guys who will be there later in the 2020 NFL Draft that are worth talking about.

Now while the likelihood of Tulsa’s Trevis Gipson becoming the next NFL sack artist is up for some discussion, but as of right now he offers some good qualities. Gipson is one of those raw players mentioned beforehand, he’s still learning to use his hands and to keep a consistent pad level among other small details.

That said, Gipson shows a surprising amount of bend in addition to a nice get off and flashes of solid gap penetration. At times he’ll be able to out leverage tackles at the point of attack, making plays against the run.

An interesting aspect of Gipson’s story is that he is trying to be the first player from Tulsa to be drafted since Charles Clay back in 2011. Other than his rawness, playing at a smaller school doesn’t put too much of a spotlight on players such as Gipson. However, that shouldn’t take away from the flashes of talent he possesses.
