The New England Patriots move forward in life without Tom Brady in this seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft.

It is always difficult to predict what Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots will do in the draft. This year, it might be impossible.

After Tom Brady decided to walk away from Foxborough and team up with Bruce Arians and company in Tampa Bay, the Patriots are without an obvious answer at the quarterback position in well over 20 years. The Pats seem fully invested in Jarrett Stidham as their franchise signal-caller going forward, and while Stidham does have plenty of upside under center, it is fair to question whether he is ready to take over for the greatest quarterback of all-time.

With this in mind, the New England Patriots have been consistently connected to many quarterbacks in the upcoming draft class. Will they take a chance on a guy like Jordan Love in the first round? How about Jake Fromm or Jalen Hurts in the middle rounds? What if injury concerns Tua Tagovailoa to slip? Would the Patriots consider making a big trade up for the former Alabama star?

Honestly, I do not see any of this happening. The Patriots clearly like Stidham and want to give him a fair shot to prove himself. If he comes in and plays well, they may have found a legitimate Brady replacement for the cheap price of a fourth-round pick. If he falls flat on his face, perhaps they get in the range to get Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields in the 2021 NFL Draft. Either way, I can see the appeal of giving Stidham a chance to prove himself while still understanding the obvious downside.

Whether they look to build around Stidham or find his replacement before he even gets a chance, the 2020 NFL Draft will certainly be interesting for the New England Patriots. Let’s see what they could pull off with a complete seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft for the team.
