Los Angeles Rams 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: Pass rush priorities
The Rams had some major issues on the offensive line in 2019 so adding some talent early in the 2020 NFL Draft should be a priority for Los Angeles. After gaining another second-round pick via the Brandin Cooks trade, I expect one of their two selections will be used on help up front.
While landing a potential tackle of the future is certainly an option, I think adding an immediate need on the inside is the play. So, I have the Los Angeles Rams selecting a versatile option out of LSU in Lloyd Cushenberry III with the 57th overall selection.
Cushenberry was a huge piece to the LSU Tigers National Championship season, as he led that offensive line unit to the Joe Moore Award and helped protect the eventual Heisman winner (and likely top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft), Joe Burrow.
He played in 39 games in his career and was voted team captain as a senior. These accolades all led to his eventual invite to the Senior Bowl where Cushenberry had himself a dominant week and solidified himself as one of the top interior linemen in this class.
Although he played in a gap scheme with the Tigers, Cushenberry has traits that lend themselves to him thriving in a zone-blocking system like the Rams. He’s got great feet, natural movement skills and is always looking for somebody to hit. While most of his experience is at the center position, there is no reason to believe he couldn’t kick out to guard as well. His versatility, physicality, and motor make him a terrific option for the Rams with the 57th overall selection.
