Jaguars 7-round mock draft: Building around Gardner Minshew
By Evan Bachman
With the 2020 NFL draft just a week away this is a projection for all 12 of the Jacksonville Jaguars picks in a seven round mock draft.
The coronavirus pandemic has caused major sports leagues like the NBA, NHL, and MLB to have to suspend play and while the NFL isn’t in season right now, it is still affecting the 2020 NFL Draft.
For the first time, each team’s decision makers won’t be allowed to be in the same room and will instead have to make huge decisions over a group FaceTime. This could certainly affect the Jaguars a lot because not having all of the teams draft personnel in the same room makes it harder to communicate trades and they are one of the prime candidates to make moves because they have 12 picks.
In this Jacksonville Jaguars seven round mock draft however I am not projecting trades, so while I know there definitely could be trades made, this is a projection of what they’ll do with the picks they do have.
The Jaguars have made a few notable moves in free agency like signing linebacker Joe Schobert to a five-year deal, signing defensive linemen Rodney Gunter to a three-year deal, and tight end Tyler Eifert to a two-year deal. This offseason could become more eventful however if they do decide to trade franchise tagged edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue, which there have been rumors about and something to keep an eye on heading into the draft.
They are going into next year with last year’s sixth round pick Gardner Minshew starting at quarterback. There task in this draft is to add as much talent as possible to the supporting cast, so they can figure out if he’s just someone who can sell tickets because he’s a fan favorite or if he’s really a franchise quarterback.
All free agent deals are according to spotrac.
