San Francisco 49ers 7-Round 2020 NFL mock draft: Offensive line help
Since the San Francisco 49ers have to wait until round five after pick 31, it seems likely that general manager John Lynch will find a way to trade out of the first round to acquire more selections. Here, he does just that.
It was tough finding a good trade partner, but picking up a fourth-round pick to move down four spots isn’t a bad deal, and the Lions still get sent a late fifth-rounder in the process.
After trading down just four spots, the 49ers are still in a position to get a top tier player in the 2020 NFL Draft. While Arik Armstead was re-signed to a major deal, finding another three-technique to drive the machine on the defensive line will likely be a priority. Javon Kinlaw didn’t make it to 13, but Justin Madubuike is a nice consolation in the second round.
Madubuike has the versatility to line up at the nose tackle spot, but his combination of quickness and power will be valuable at the 3-tech. He racked up 5.5 sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss in his final season with the Aggies, and his best football is ahead of him. With so many names on the defensive line, Madubuike will be able to take advantage of one-on-ones and wreak havoc in the backfield.
