Kansas City Chiefs 7-Round 2020 NFL mock draft: Finding defensive value
With just two picks on day three, the Kansas City Chiefs will need to address top needs at good value. While running back isn’t a major need, there’s no problem adding another name into the fold at this point in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Ke’Shawn Vaughn dealt with underwhelming rosters, especially on the offensive line, at both Illinois and Vanderbilt. He crossed the 1,000-yard mark in both of his seasons with the Commodores and found paydirt 21 times combined. Vaughn has some tools, especially his ability as a one-cut back and his long speed. He’s also reliable as a pass catcher, and he’d be a good rotational player in Kansas City.
In this writer’s opinion, North Dakota State edge rusher Derrek Tuszka deserves more hype. He registered 13.5 sacks and 19 tackles for loss in his final season with the Bison and is a great developmental edge player for the Chiefs in the later rounds. He softens the edge well with his hands and can win around the edge with a good first step and solid bend.
Tuszka’s been compared to Maxx Crosby lately, and it makes a ton of sense. With limited help for Frank Clark, Tuszka could rotate in and make some noise early on.
