3. Interior Offensive Line

The Carolina Panthers created a hole on their interior line when they agreed to trade five-time Pro Bowl guard Trai Turner for offensive tackle Russell Okung. They may have upgraded their tackle spot, but they created a big-time hole inside. They also lost guard Greg Van Roten when he left for the New York Jets. They did, however, agree to a free-agent contract with John Miller who spent last season with Cincinnati. Miller went to Louisville where he played with new Carolina Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater for three seasons.

With two interior spots filled with Miller at guard and Matt Paradis at center, the Carolina Panthers need to draft someone to compete for the other guard spot. There are some intriguing options on day two of the draft, but I’m not sure who will be available for Carolina.

Depending on what round they intend to select a lineman, their options may be scarce. If they elect to take one on day two they could land a starting-caliber player and at the very least he’ll compete for the starting guard spot. Here are some day two and three options for the Carolina Panthers.

IOL prospects: Jonah Jackson, Ohio State (2nd round), Lloyd Cushenberry III, LSU (2nd round), Matt Hennessy, Temple (3rd round), Damien Lewis, LSU (3rd round), Robert Hunt, Louisiana-Lafayette (3rd round), Tyler Biadasz, Wisconsin (4th round), Netane Muti, Fresno State (4th round).
