2020 NFL Draft: Possible trade-up targets for Houston Texans
Robert Hunt, IOL, Louisiana
The Houston Texans have done a nice job of improving their offensive line over the last year or so. They undoubtedly paid dearly for him, but Laremy Tunsil is a premier left tackle who helps solidify the entire unit. Houston invested early picks in Tytus Howard and Max Scharping in the 2019 NFL Draft. Howard seems to have found a home at right tackle, while Scharping played well at left guard last season. Nick Martin is a solid starter for the team at center.
While guys like Howard and Scharping still have some developing to do, the Texans are sitting pretty well at four of the five offensive line spots right now. However, they do have a hole at the right guard position and Robert Hunt stands out as an exciting fit.
Hunt played both tackle and guard in college but seems to be best suited as an interior player at the next level. He has ridiculously strong hands and is extremely powerful at the point of attack. Hunt moves defenders off of their spot with ease, using impressive raw power, strong pad level and great overall hand usage.
Hunt does not have elite athleticism, but he does get off of the ball quickly and shows some athletic movement ability in space. He is never going to be an elite second-level blocker, but Hunt can get out and move some.
The Texans need a long-term answer at left guard and Hunt feels like a tremendous fit for the team. If he is still on the board as the third round comes around, O’Brien and company should strongly consider adding him to the mix.
