2020 NFL Draft: Possible trade-up targets for Houston Texans
Looking at some possible trade-up targets for the Houston Texans in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Houston Texans may have traded away one of the best receivers in the NFL earlier this offseason, but this is still an extremely talented team with legitimate playmakers on both sides of the ball. Bill O’Brien and his staff have made some baffling moves but after the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens, the Texans are among the most dangerous teams in the AFC going forward.
How the Texans traded away both Jadeveon Clowney and DeAndre Hopkins in the last calendar year and still don’t have a first-round pick in not only the 2020 NFL Draft but also the 2021 NFL Draft, I will never know. However, that is the reality they live in. The picks that the Texans currently hold in the 2020 NFL Draft are as followed:
- Round 2, 40th overall
- Round 3, 90th overall
- Round 4, 111th overall
- Round 5, 171st overall
- Round 7, 240th overall
- Round 7, 248th overall
- Round 7, 250th overall
While the Texans still have seven picks in the upcoming draft, a majority of their draft capital lies in the later rounds. They do have a couple of valuable Day 2 selections, but not much else to speak of. Dispite this lack of draft capital, can the Texans get creative and look to make an aggressive trade up at some point in the 2020 NFL Draft. It may not be likely, but it is certainly possible if the right opportunity presents itself.
It may be unlikely that the Houston Texans actually make an aggressive trade up in the 2020 NFL Draft, but let’s be honest, anything is possible when it comes to Bill O’Brien. If he sees a player who he thinks helps take this team over the top, you know as well as I do that he will not hesitate to make a move up for him. With that in mind, here are three potential trade-up targets for the Houston Texans in the 2020 NFL Draft.
