2020 NFL Draft: Potential trade-up targets for Minnesota Vikings
By David Glancy
The 2020 Draft class is loaded with high-end talent at the offensive tackle position where four tackles are projected to be selected by the time the Broncos are on the clock at pick 15. While the Vikings have the capital to move up and select one of Tristan Wirfs, Andrew Thomas, Jedrick Wills Jr., or Mekhi Becton depending on who may fall, it is unlikely the Vikings will look to move up given the tackles available in the second round.
Between Isaiah Wilson, Josh Jones, and Ezra Cleveland, the Vikings will have options to go offensive tackle with either the 22nd or 25th pick. If the Vikings fail to go offensive line on day one, Lucas Niang and Austin Jackson will be the top options by the time the Vikings are back up at 58. The Vikings could use their second-round pick and a combination of mid-round picks to move up on day two and draft one of Wilson, Jones or Cleveland.
The Minnesota Vikings have fewer options if they prioritize an interior lineman. The highest projected interior lineman, Cesar Ruiz primarily played center at Michigan and projects to go anywhere from a mid-first to early-second round pick. As the Vikings used their 2019 first-round selection on center Garrett Bradbury, it is unlikely they will target Ruiz or Lloyd Cushenberry III, who played center at LSU.
Robert Hunt could be an intriguing target for the Vikings if they look to go guard in the second or early-third round. Hunt was a standout tackle for Louisiana-Lafayette and has experience at guard. He has the ceiling to be an effective starter and provides flexibility inside or outside.
