Despite the fact that he’s probably a good fit for any type of offensive scheme, zone heavy teams in particular are going to be drooling at the chance to take Matt Hennessy, a very rare underclassman on the offensive line coming out of Temple.

The Rams are obviously a team that emphasizes the zone running scheme and Hennessy has ample athleticism to be a star for them for a really long time.

Although he’s a bit ‘thinner’ than the other top center prospects in this class — Michigan’s Cesar Ruiz and LSU’s Lloyd Cushenberry — Hennessy has plenty of play strength and great movement skills.

Most importantly, he is a smart player who takes care of protection calls and is NFL ready in terms of his technique.

The Rams acquired this pick from the Houston Texans in exchange for wide receiver Brandin Cooks, and this is a nice value in the later portion of the second round. Hennessy can provide the Rams with a long-term starter on the offensive line.
