5. Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama

This is crazy right? Why would the Carolina Panthers take a quarterback? Will Tua even be there when the Panthers are on the clock? All great questions. Now let me explain my madness. Detroit does not mess around and they take Okudah at three. The Giants say F@#! it and take Isaiah Simmons at four. Now, this is where the fun begins with Miami taking Justin Herbert over the oft-injured Tagovailoa.

The Chargers still need a quarterback, but instead take one of the top tackles, because their current tackles are putrid. That leaves Tua Tagovailoa sitting there for Carolina. Yes, I know they just signed Teddy Bridgewater why would they take a quarterback? Well, I’m not sure how many people believe that Bridgewater is the future in Carolina, but I certainly do not. I will say that Bridgewater is the perfect bridge quarterback for Tua Tagovailoa.

Tagovailoa has the traits you want in an NFL quarterback, but the injuries are very concerning. I get all that, but how many of those were freak accidents? The NFL is all about risks and there’s no doubt in my mind that Tua will have success in the NFL when he’s healthy.

He has a strong arm with great accuracy and touch on his throws. He can play in any style of offense and most importantly comes from a winning pedigree in Alabama. Coaches want winners and Tua Tagovailoa is certainly that.

I get that people will say “Tank for Trevor” but he’s not guaranteed. Bridgewater is a competent starting quarterback and is capable of winning games for Carolina. I would take the proven winner at quarterback and let him sit as long as he needs behind Bridgewater.
