The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Arizona Cardinals could be ideal trade partners in the 2020 NFL Draft. Could they strike a first-round trade?

The NFL Draft is always unpredictable, and you never know when teams are going to be aggressive in moving up the draft board. Even with this year being a strong class of players at the offensive tackle position, is it possible that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, fresh off of signing quarterback Tom Brady, could move up in search of an offensive tackle?

According to Albert Breer, that’s the scuttlebutt coming out of Tampa Bay, where the Bucs have a new captain in need of some protection.

Breer’s report indicates that the Buccaneers, along with the Denver Broncos, are two teams that have interest in moving up for an offensive tackle, potentially.

From the Bucs’ perspective, that makes a lot of sense.

The Buccaneers need to make sure that they don’t fail to contend in 2020 because they couldn’t protect Tom Brady well enough.

The Bucs may have an ideal trade partner, too. Head coach Bruce Arians has ties to the Arizona Cardinals’ organization, obviously, and while no one knows how the relationship between those two is at this point in time, he at least has the relational equity to help work a deal with the Cardinals, who are currently lacking a second-round draft pick.

What if the Buccaneers dangled picks 14 and 45 to the Cardinals for the eighth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft?

The trade value chart says that the 14th and 45th overall picks would represent a bit of an overpay from the Buccaneers’ perspective, so perhaps the Cardinals could send back a fourth-rounder to even the deal out.

One way or another, this move would ensure that the Buccaneers landed probably the second or third-best tackle on their draft board and would also give the Cardinals a second-round pick after trading for DeAndre Hopkins earlier in the offseason.

The Buccaneers would be able to target someone like Alabama’s Jedrick Wills, Louisville’s Mekhi Becton, Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs, or Georgia’s Andrew Thomas with that 8th overall pick and solidify their line with Brady coming into the fray.
