After trading Stefon Diggs to the Bills, the Minnesota Vikings have a total of 12 picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, including two picks in the first round.

The free agency period for the Minnesota Vikings was primarily dictated by their salary cap, as several starters left Minnesota with few long-term replacements coming in. The defense was hit hardest in free agency where two starting defensive linemen and five defensive backs left. The departure of veterans Everson Griffen, Linval Joseph, Xavier Rhodes and Trae Waynes will significantly change the appearance of the Minnesota defense.

The Minnesota Vikings hold12 picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, which gives them the second-most picks in the draft, trailing only the Miami Dolphins and their 14 selections. The Vikings acquired three picks from the Buffalo Bills in the 2020 NFL Draft along with a fourth-round selection in the 2021 Draft in exchange for Stefon Diggs and a seventh-round selection.

With a total of 12 picks, including two first-round selections, the Minnesota Vikings will look to find immediate replacements on the defensive side of the ball. Given the number of highly ranked receivers, the Vikings have the luxury to wait on a Stefon Diggs replacement while they add starters to a depleted secondary.

In addition to the departures to the defensive line, secondary, and Diggs, the Vikings released offensive guard Josh Kline and will look to add depth to the offensive line, if not an immediate starter.

The Vikings like to rely on their line as a strength in a power running game. Kirk Cousins improved when under pressure during the 2019 season, but the Vikings will look to add to his protection after 2019 first-round selection, Garrett Bradbury, put together an underwhelming rookie debut.
