2020 NFL Draft: Four-Round 2020 NFL mock draft with exciting trades
Derrick Brown did not have the most impressive showing at the NFL Scouting Combine, but we cannot ignore his dominant college career at Auburn. Brown may not have the highest athletic ceiling, but he is a true game-wreaker on the inside who can be a guy who you can build a defense around.
The Carolina Panthers are in a bit of a reset. Cam Newton, Luke Kuechly and Ron Rivera are gone. The Panthers made the most exciting head and assistant coach hires of the offseason, bringing in Matt Rhule as the head coach and Joe Brady as their offensive coordinator. Carolina also signed Teddy Bridgewater to be their new starting quarterback. They still have plenty of work to do with the roster, but the Panthers appear to be on the right track.
As the Panthers continue to build their roster, Brown feels like a strong fit. Not only is the interior defensive line a major immediate need for the team, building from inside-out is a strong plan of attack.
Brown is not the most explosive defensive lineman, but he is quick off of the power and incredibly powerful at the point of attack. He is an extremely disruptive run defender who can two-gap at a high level and make plays in the backfield as a one-gap penetrator. Simply put, Brown is one of the best defensive players in the 2020 NFL Draft class and would be a welcomed addition to the Panthers’ roster.
