56. QB. LSU. Joe Burrow. 1. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player

You can pretty much put this one in Sharpie. The Cincinnati Bengals are going to take quarterback Joe Burrow with the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. They need a new a franchise quarterback to build around and Burrow is coming off of arguably the best quarterback season in college football history. For good measure, Burrow also grew up two hours outside of Cincinnati. This one just makes too much sense.

Burrow had a dream 2019 season at LSU, completing 76.3% of his passes for 5,671 yards, 60 touchdowns and only six interceptions. He led LSU to a dominant 15-0 National Championship season. Burrow also won the Heisman Trophy in a landslide.

While he was a bit of a one-year wonder, it was undoubtedly an incredible year for Burrow. Passing Game Coordinator Joe Brady unlocked Burrow’s potential with his wide-open passing attack and Burrow made the ost of every possible opportunity throughout the season.

He is a smart quarterback who consistently makes strong decisions on the field. Burrow also shows tremendous natural pocket presence and fantastic mobility at the quarterback position. Burrow feels pressure extremely well and has the wheels to escape it if necessary.

While he does not have the biggest arm, Burrow has enough arm talent to make any throw on the field. He also shows the ability to put the proper touch on his passes and has accuracy to all levels. Simply put, Burrow’s ball placement is top-notch and gives him a high floor at the next level.

Burrow is an impressive quarterback prospect who is going to have consistent success on the field. However, his natural leadership qualities and moxie make him a particularly enticing fit for the Bengals. This franchise needs a spark. They need somebody to believe in and Joe Burrow is that guy. He is going to be the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and it is the right selection.
