Trade up to No. 6 for Javon Kinlaw

If the Arizona Cardinals are trading with the Los Angeles Chargers, it’s to jump up above the Panthers, presumably for a defensive tackle. As the draft cycle has progressed, the top two defensive tackles in the draft have been getting a lot of hype.

Derrick Brown from Auburn has been the top guy for a good while now, but ever since the Senior Bowl, Javon Kinlaw has been rocketing up mock drafts and big boards everywhere. At this point, it’s a toss-up on which one will be drafted first.

The Cardinals have been a popular landing spot for both interior defensive linemen in recent mocks, and it’s likely that one of them end up in Carolina after the draft. That’s why, if the Cardinals want their choice of interior defensive lineman, they will have to trade up above the Panthers.

Only trading up two picks shouldn’t be very costly, so it’s plausible that this happens. If there were to be a trade up for this position, it would most likely be for Javon Kinlaw. Kinlaw has been doing everything right in his pre-draft process, and all he had to do for that was dominate at the senior bowl and boy did he do that.

Ever since the combine, Derrick Brown has seemed to have dropped a bit after athletic testing. In this scenario, after a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers up to No. 6 overall, the Arizona Cardinals select Javon Kinlaw, defensive tackle, South Carolina.
