Iowa. Michael Ojemudia . player. Scouting Report. Cornerback. 197. 57. Pick Analysis

Despite the recent signing of Burns, the Chicago Bears could still use another outside corner to pair with Kendall Fuller. Outside of Fuller and the former Pittsburgh Steeler, the Chicago Bears are currently rostering guys such as Stephen Denmark, Kevin Tolliver, and Michael Joseph. This is not to say that Iowa corner Michael Ojemudia is the savior on the perimeter, but you could do a lot worse here in the sixth-round.

Ojemudia is a big corner, which seems to be an intangible that Chicago values given the measurables of some of their other corners. He displays good overall ball skills and excels in zone coverages. While he may need a year or two to develop in other areas such as transitions and in man coverage, Ojemudia shows the potential to be a dependable option on the outside.

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Shyheim Carter . 200. player. Safety . Alabama. 57

A mere three picks later, the Chicago Bears go back to the secondary to address the strong safety position with this pick here. After losing Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix to the Dallas Cowboys in free agency, the Chicago Bears find themselves with a need at strong safety. Right now, they are relying on Deon Bush and Jordan Lucas to get the job done.

As with the Ojemudia pick from before, Shyheim Carter doesn’t quite project as a day one starter in the NFL. And with the precedent set that the Chicago Bears need a quick turnaround, this may seem like an odd move.

That being said, Carter can still have a sizeable impact in his rookie season. Playing at box safety type of role at Alabama, Carter could play a rotational role coming in to cover running backs, tight ends and help out vs the run.
