Chicago Bears find new franchise QB in 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft
One veteran signed by the Chicago Bears that wasn’t mentioned in the introduction was former Packers, Seahawks, and Saints tight end Jimmy Graham. Graham, on the latter half of his career joins a crowded tight end room that includes, Jesper Horstead Trey Burton, Adam Shaheem and Demetrius Harris.
With Graham and Burton’s recent struggles with staying healthy on Sundays and a bunch of unknowns behind them, the Chicago Bears are in line to address the position at some capacity in the upcoming draft.
While the popular picks for the Chicago Bears have been in the form of Notre Dame’s Cole Kmet and Purdue’s Brycen Hopkins, in this scenario I have them taking Virginia Tech’s Dalton Keene here in the fifth round.
After being severely underutilized while in Blacksburg, Keene may find a role to shine while in the NFL. Keene isn’t a perfect prospect, but he has displayed the necessary makings for a successful tight end at the pro level such as a surprising level of proficiency in blocking situations and ball skills.
Keene isn’t a candidate to start in year one but could be a capable starter later on down the road given the money spent in front of him at the position. Once he fully learns the route tree, Keene has the potential to be a late-round steal.
