2020 NFL Draft: Trade-up targets for the Carolina Panthers
1. Malik Harrison, Linebacker, Ohio State
The Carolina Panthers need to replace the retired Luke Kuechly and Ohio State linebacker Malik Harrison would be a solid pick in round four of the 2020 NFL Draft. He doesn’t do everything well like Kuechly, but who does? Harrison projects to be a MIKE linebacker and will wrack up tackles in the NFL. He needs to improve in coverage, but he has time to develop that part of his game.
He’s a bigger linebacker at 6-foot-3 and 247 pounds, yet he has the lateral quickness that is needed at the position. I have Harrison projected as a third-rounder so Carolina may have to trade as high as the bottom of the third round to grab the former Buckeye. He had 75 tackles (16.5 TFL) in 2019 with 3.5 sacks and four passes defended.
2. Amik Robertson, Cornerback, Louisiana Tech
NFL Teams may be scared away by Amik Robertson’s size, as he is only 5-foot-8 and 187 pounds, but if they look past that they will find a highly competitive cornerback with extreme talent. While some teams may want him as a slot corner, he is actually a boundary cornerback. Yes, he is smaller than the typical outside corner, but do not tell him that.
He’s not afraid of bigger receivers in the slightest as he consistently brings the physicality. Robertson has great quickness and anticipation to stick on receivers like a pest. In three seasons at Louisiana Tech, Robertson had an unheard of 14 interceptions with five of them coming in 2019.
3. Tyler Biadasz, IOL, Wisconsin
Another player I had the Carolina Panthers taking was Wisconsin center Tyler Biadasz. They need help on the interior and Biadasz could bring some toughness and youth to the position. He played center throughout his time as a Badger, but he should be able to move to guard as the Panthers have the center spot filled.
Biadasz was a unanimous All-American in 2019 and a two-time First Team All-Big Ten at center in 2018 and 2019. He was also a huge part of Jonathan Taylor winning the Doak Walker Award in 2019 which is given to the nation’s best running back.
Christian McCaffrey would benefit the most if Biadasz were to be picked up by Carolina. He’s not the strongest lineman, but Biadasz is very technically sound and could play in any running scheme. He’s extremely consistent and could become a fan favorite in Carolina.
