2020 NFL Draft: Late-Round sleeper targets for the Washington Redskins
By Matt Murray
Calvin Throckmorton, OL, Oregon
Calvin Throckmorton is a four-year starter who shows extreme position versatility with experience playing every spot on the offensive line. In the NFL, he projects to be a guard or center but he primarily played tackle in 2019. This could help his draft stock as the NFL looks for positional flexibility from players that are in a developmental role.
Throckmorton does come with negatives as he struggles with balance and footwork, both things he will have to fix to become a starter in the league. Currently, he is being projected as a sixth or seventh-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft
Tight End
Offensive Coordinator Scott Turner’s System does stress the use of a tight end as a receiver and although the tight end class is fairly limited in 2020 they do have a few options in the later rounds of the draft including Cheyenne O’Grady and Harrison Bryant.
Cheyenne O’Grady, TE, Arkansas
Cheyenne O’Grady is a player that should be ranked much higher but suspensions and off-field problems have drastically hurt him as a prospect. He was suspended multiple times at Arkansas and his final suspension removed him from the team. There is speculation it was for missing school and practice but his dedication to the sport has been questioned as well.
That being said, his skills are there. O’Grady is a great pass-catching tight end and shows fantastic ability to shed tacklers. He is not the most consistent blocker but can get the job done. Although he is a third-round talent he will most likely make it to the fourth or fifth round based on if teams can trust him.
Harrison Bryant, TE, FAU
Harrison Bryant might be my favorite sleeper in the 2020 NFL Draft. He is strictly a pass-catching tight end and has done very little work blocking or even aligning with his hand in the dirt but his IQ as a receiving tight end is very high.
He has great hands and added some physicality to his game in 2019. He is a bit undersized but should be able to add some weight with an NFL training regiment and prove to be a great target in Turner’s system. Bryant will be selected later than he should be with a projection between round five and six.
