Broncos 7-round mock draft: What if John Elway goes defense first?
Believe it or not, CJ Henderson’s lack of elite tackling skills won’t put him in the undrafted player pool.
Henderson, despite some tackling issues over his three years with the Gators, has been tremendous in coverage.
Next to Jeffrey Okudah, no one in this class can match Henderson’s combination of size, athleticism, and cover skills. And at least testing-wise, Henderson is a superior athlete in comparison to Okudah.
Despite his reputation as a poor tackler, Henderson is a tremendous asset as a blitzer and had eight tackles for loss and four sacks over the last two seasons.
He’s obviously an asset in coverage, and considering the Broncos have to play against Patrick Mahomes and his crew of receivers two, maybe three times per season, there can be no shortage of top cover men in Vic Fangio’s defense.
His tackling issues can be cleaned up over time, but the Broncos need him turning big plays into PBUs first and foremost.
