Cornerback

Everyone is enjoying mocking a running back to the Kansas City Chiefs, and while it would be fun, corner is the obvious need for the Chiefs right now. It would be wise for them to select one early and select more than one.

At the moment, neither starting outside corner, Kendall Fuller nor Bashaud Breeland, is back with the team. Fuller went back to Washington in free agency and Breeland remains unsigned, though he has stated he wants to be back in Kansas City. So, with the corner room very bare, it’s the top need.

So who could they be looking at with pick 32? Someone like TCU’s Jeff Gladney should be at the top of the list. Gladney has great footwork, quickness, and frustrates receivers at the catch point. He had 26 pass breakups in his last two seasons with the Horned Frogs.

If somehow, Kristian Fulton took a tumble, he would definitely be in play. Auburn’s Noah Igbinoghene should also be high on the list. He’s only played two seasons at corner, but has shown great development in that time and has a high ceiling.

If they were to wait until round two, two names of good value would be Jaylon Johnson and Trevon Diggs. Diggs is expected to go higher, but he’s a bit raw and would be a better value later. Johnson is physical with good match/mirror skills.
