Though the Indianapolis Colts have limited assets, Chris Ballard needs to use the draft to help the team compete in the interim while also looking towards the future of the franchise.

The Indianapolis Colts are still attempting to move on from Andrew Luck. A team that was a Super Bowl favorite has fallen from grace with one neck bearded man’s retirement, and it’s imperative the team gets back on its feet as fast as possible. The upcoming 2020 NFL Draft will be an important catalyst for the team the Colts hope to have in 2021.

The Indianapolis Colts started the season off with a bang, starting off 5-2 and sitting atop the AFC South heading into Week 9. Those losses were both nail biter one-score games as well, so there was a lot to be excited for as the team headed into the second half of their season. Then after an embarrassing road loss to a mangled Steelers squad, the wheels really started to fall off.

When it was all said and done the team lost seven of its final nine games to finish the season a putrid 7-9 and third in the AFC South. A season that started so promising was left as one that the franchise wants to erase from fans’ memories. There is little to hang your hat on after such an embarrassing end.

The team finished 25th in total offense and 16th in total defense and totally lost their edge the longer the season went on. The Colts have been fairly quiet in free agency outside of landing Philip Rivers, which means they need this draft to hit the mark. I’m going to mock every pick the Colts have in 2020 and put together a class that will hopefully cement this team as a threat for years to come.
