Top positions of need for the Houston Texans in the 2020 NFL Draft
Taking a look at the top positions of need for the Houston Texans in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The DeAndre Hopkins trade has changed everything for the Houston Texans. This team now has to look forward without having one of the best offensive playmakers in the entire NFL. Did Bill O’Brien ruin this franchise or does he know more than we do? If nothing else, the Texans at least have some more 2020 NFL Draft capital to work with after the trade.
Due to the Laremy Tunsil trade (and somehow not receiving a first-round pick for either Jadeveon Clowney or DeAndre Hopkins), the Houston Texans enter the 2020 NFL Draft without a first-round selection. They do, however, have two second-round picks and eight selections overall. Their current picks in the 2020 NFL Draft are as followed:
- Round 2, 40th Overall
- Round 2, 57th Overall
- Round 3, 90th Overall
- Round 4, 111th Overall
- Round 5, 171st Overall
- Round 7, 240th Overall
- Round 7, 248th Overall
- Round 7, 250th Overall
As you can see, the Houston Texans have a solid amount of capital in the middle of the 2020 NFL Draft, but three of their eight picks come late in the seventh round. They could easily find some impact players in the upcoming draft, but they are not exactly set up for a ton of success.
In this post, we are not making any predictions or looking too hard into potential fits, we are mostly focusing on the positions that should be of the highest priority for the Houston Texans in the 2020 NFL Draft. Which positions do the Texans need to address in order to find the most short and long-term success? Well, let’s take a look.
