Top team needs for Miami Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft
Running Back
After addressing the quarterback and offensive line, the Miami Dolphins could use a feature running back to take some pressure off of a young signal-caller. After trading Kenyan Drake to the Cardinals during the 2019 season, Miami rode a committee of backs including Kalen Ballage, Patrick Laird and Myles Gaskin.
That clearly isn’t enough in the backfield. We mentioned already that Jordan Howard signed a two-year deal with Miami, and he will be a good complementary guy to whoever the Dolphins select in the 2020 NFL Draft.
With three first-round selections, it’s not crazy to think one of those could be a running back. After all, the Raiders did that in last year’s draft, selecting Josh Jacobs with their third first-round pick. The Dolphins could start the run on running backs in the first round.
Georgia’s D’Andre Swift is RB1 among a good number of analysts, but it’s possible that J.K. Dobbins or Jonathan Taylor could be the pick instead. Dobbins brings great three-down ability, and Taylor’s vision and breakaway speed are fantastic. If not in the first round, someone like Clyde Edwards-Helaire would be good in the second round. His quickness, receiving ability, and toughness would fit the Flores mold.
