What are the top needs for the Miami Dolphins as we draw near to the 2020 NFL Draft?

The rebuild for the Miami Dolphins is well underway in the offseason so far. General manager Chris Grier and head coach Brian Flores have done well in free agency.

They made an early splash by signing corner Byron Jones to a five-year deal, giving them a very good duo in Jones and Xavien Howard. Don’t forget about Nik Needham in the slot. The defense got more of a boost with Shaq Lawson and Kyle Van Noy on the front seven, two players who fit Flores’ defense really well.

Miami also made moves along the offensive line, signing Ted Karras and Ereck Flowers. Karras played well in New England in 2019, and Flowers looked better when he moved inside. The Dolphins also signed running back Jordan Howard to be a complementary player in the run game.

It’s been a good start, and the 5-11 Dolphins have a chance to right the ship in just one season, but if it is to happen, they have to hit on their picks in the 2020 NFL Draft. The good news is that Miami has three first round picks, and six picks in the top 70. That gives the Dolphins plenty of chances to address their major needs.

There’s a real chance we could see the Miami Dolphins in the playoffs just one season after the 0-16 and “tanking” talk started with what many believed to be a dreadful roster, but here they are. It just takes one good draft for things to change. Let’s look at what positions Miami should address in the draft.
