2020 NFL Draft: First-Round “What I would do” 2020 NFL mock draft
This 2020 NFL Draft scenario did not break particularly well for the New York Jets. They have a massive need at offensive tackle and the top four being off of the board is not ideal. That being said, their wide receiver situation still leaves plenty to be desired and Jerry Jeudy is still available.
Jeudy is still my favorite wide receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft class and he would be a fantastic addition for the Jets. New York needs to find Sam Darnold some help and Jeudy’s fantastic overall playmaking ability would undoubtedly help. Jeudy is an incredible natural route runner who separates well and is a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands. He can jump in and immediately become a fantastic number one target for Darnold in this offense.
A quick little run on Alabama receivers here as the Las Vegas Raiders jump in and add Henry Ruggs III to the mix. Ruggs is a dynamic wide receiver prospect who has elite speed and explosive quickness at the position. Ruggs is a tremendously gifted wide receiver who has big-play ability written all over him.
That being said, Ruggs is more than just a speed wide receiver. He runs crisp routes, has soft hands and competes for the ball in the air extremely well. Ruggs is a complete wide receiver prospect who also happens to have elite speed and playmaking ability. He is a tremendous offensive playmaker who would fill an immediate need for the Raiders.
The San Francisco 49ers do not have a lot of needs, but they certainly need some help at the cornerback position. Richard Sherman is great, but he is certainly a bit on the older side and the 49ers do not have much else at the position. Here, they snag C.J. Henderson, an impressive cornerback prospect who could come in an make an immediate impact for this Super Bowl contender.
Henderson is an extremely quick and athletic prospect who is smooth in coverage. He is a tremendous man-to-man defender who attacks the ball in the air well. The 49ers need more playmakers in the secondary and Henderson certainly fits the bill. A strong pick for San Francisco here.
That Dolphins traded down and picked up a little extra draft capital earlier in this 2020 NFL Draft scenario. Now, they use some of that capital to trade up and snag a significant prospect who has fallen a bit. I have CeeDee Lamb below both Jeudy and Ruggs, but they are all extremely close. He would be a tremendous value pick in this range and a great addition to the Miami Dolphins’ offense.
First, they added Thomas and now they have Lamb. The Dolphins would be doing a great job of putting together a dynamic offensive unit for whoever ends up taking over as their new franchise quarterback.
All of the top offensive tackles and wide receivers being off of the board here is not ideal for the Denver Broncos. That being said, Javon Kinlaw is an extremely talented interior defensive lineman who would still make plenty of sense for this team.
Kinlaw shows an impressive combination of power, length and athleticism up front, giving him the ability to shine in two-gap situations and as a one-gap penetrator. The Broncos do not fill their biggest need here, but they find themselves an exciting defensive player who can wreak opposing offenses from the interior.
