Forget what you know about the 2020 NFL Draft. In this mock draft, we are taking the team tendencies out of the equation and I am taking full control.

Tired of the same old mock drafts? In this 2020 NFL Draft scenario, we are going to mix things up a bit. After months of trying to predict what other teams will do, we aren’t going to worry about that here. Instead, this mock draft is what I would do if I were in charge of these teams. Let’s get started.

Pick Analysis. player. 56. Scouting Report. QB. LSU. Joe Burrow. 1

We can basically set it in stone right now. Joe Burrow will be the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, as the Cincinnati Bengals will take him to be their franchise quarterback. I am not messing that up here. Burrow is coming off of one of the most impressive seasons in college football history and is the perfect guy to lead the Bengals into the future.

Burrow is a smart and athletic quarterback prospect who shows incredible natural pocket awareness and great accuracy to all fields. He consistently places the ball on a dime and is a natural-born leader. Make no mistake about it, Joe Burrow will be the pick for the Cincinnati Bengals, just as he should be.

QB. Alabama. 2. 13. Pick Analysis. Tua Tagovailoa. player. Scouting Report

We are doing what I would do here and if I were the Washington Redskins, I would be looking seriously at trade-down scenarios. That being said, the Los Angeles Chargers have a much-more complete roster and could be just a quarterback away from being serious competitors in the AFC. In this 2020 NFL Draft scenario, they make an aggressive move up for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

The injury concerns are real, but if Tua is healthy, he is an elite-level quarterback prospect who has massive upside at the next level. Tagovailoa is an extremely smart quarterback who leads the offense well and shows impressive accuracy to all levels. Tagovailoa is a precise passer who knows how and when to put the proper touch on his passes. He is also relatively mobile and has a knack for improvising.

Simply put, Tagovailoa is a tremendously gifted quarterback prospect who could put the Chargers over the top.

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Ohio State. 50. EDGE. Chase Young. 3. player

This pick is easy. Chase Young is the best player in the 2020 NFL Draft class and edge rusher is a need for the Detroit Lions. Young is quick out of the blocks, has incredible bend around the edge and closes on the quarterback quickly. He converts from speed to power extremely well and does a great job of setting the edge.

Young is a dynamic pass rusher on the edge who is also strong as a run defender. He would provide immediate value to the Lions’ defense and gives them a player who they can build their defensive unit around.

player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LB/S. Isaiah Simmons. 4. Clemson. 31

In the actual 2020 NFL Draft, the New York Giants will likely snag an offensive tackle at No. 4. While I understand the selection, I cannot pass up the opportunity to take Isaiah Simmons here. Simmons is an athletic freak on the defensive side of the ball who shines in all aspects of the game. He is best used as a versatile chess piece who can make an impact on the defense in a variety of ways.

Do you need a linebacker? Simmons can be your guy. Need a deep safety? Simmons can be your guy. Need a slot cornerback or even an edge rusher? Simmons can be your guy. Get him in the mix and let this guy make plays. Anybody could use a guy like Simmons and the Giants are not an exception. With this pick, the Giants would get new head coach Joe Judge a dynamic playmaker to build their defense around.

CB. Ohio State. Jeffrey Okudah. 5. Pick Analysis. player. 52. Scouting Report

Any quarterback selection here would be a reach in my opinion and cornerback Jeffrey Okudah is clearly the best player remaining on the board. With Byron Jones and Xavien Howard already on the roster, the Dolphins would not be wise to take a cornerback here so I decided to look at trade-down scenarios. Miami is already loaded with draft capital, but it doesn’t hurt to acquire more.

After losing Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye, the Jacksonville Jaguars have a massive need at the cornerback position. Trading up for Okudah is not ideal, but he is an elite cornerback prospect who has massive upside at the next level. He is worth the extra draft capital.
